Note & Discussion - DO is Dissolved Oxygen, BOD is Biochemical Oxygen Demand and FCC is Fecal Coliform Count. The Permissible limits of River Water for Direct Human Touch in respect of BOD is less than 3.0 mg/l and FCC is less than 500/100 ml.

From the above observations it is clear that the stretch between Trilochan Ghat and Varuna confluence is highly polluted due to huge discharge of sewage from the existing drains at these locations. Water quality has been found very poor also in other sampling locations.
